Expense Report User Interface

There is no longer a date for this feature to be released.

This is a pretty subtle change, however it might have an impact on how your particular company runs. The change is just moving the business purpose and the header memo from the header of the Expense Report to the landing page of the Create Expense Report Task.

It is clear that Workday is trying to segregate the Expense Report header from the transaction level detail. However, it is not until the landing page has been filled out and submitted that any custom validations are triggered. What this means is that if your company, like many other companies, requires a header memo or a Business Purpose and the individual fills out the form incorrectly, they will have to go back and edit it causing just a few more clicks.

This is a pretty small and seemingly insignificant detail, however, 90% of the individuals that touch Workday do so for two reasons Payroll and Expenses.

So one of the most frequented pieces of Workday is going to be changed and guaranteed it will be frustrating for the end users if they do not know what is coming down the pipeline.  It is important that you create a plan to alert individuals about this update and to ensure that you have proper controls and understand how to handle any questions or concerns.
